Movie Weekend

So, earlier this week I was watching a movie with my oldest brother and his wife. It was one that looked interesting and made by the same production company that did Ultimate Gift, which is one of my favorites, but I have to say I was sorely dissapointed. Even though it was filmed and took place in my beautiful North Carolina, there was just too much weirdness going on. It was just SUPER weird and I honestly don't think I would recommend it, even though it did have Peyton from OTH in it...

So, then, on Friday I had promised my friend Lisa I'd go to a movie with her. There wasn't a whole lot that was playing that I wanted to see, or that I hadn't promised Fort we'd go see together. So, we decided to go see the movie Australia...
its like 3 hours long, and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because its by Baz Luhrman who brought us such movies as:

Moulin Rouge which was like one of my most all time favorite movies before my mission. I loved loved loved this movie, despite its depressing ending....

He also made the movie Romeo + Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, which I saw like FOREVER ago, but just looking at the title tells me that its going to have a depressing ending with the main characters dying! (Are you catching my point about Baz Luhrman movies?)

So, I'm watching Australia and its got Nicole Kidman in it, as well as Hugh Jackman and its pretty good, I'm about and hour and a half into it and it hits me that this is in fact a Baz Luhrman film, and that if my memory serves me well, I would know that the two other movies he's made that I can think of ended very very sad and depressing and I start freaking out because I don't want this movie to end sad too...I was seriously going to be terribly upset if this movie ended wrong too. Yeah, up to the last scene I wouldn't allow myself to believe it was going to end happy...but it did and although it was really long, it was pretty good too. I would probably recommend it...depends on your movie tastes. I liked it better than Moulin Rouge and that is actually quite a lot.

Oh, and a PS for those who asked me about Burn Notice: Its on the USA network on Thursday nights at 10/9C...check it out!!

Burn Notice

So. my brother (we call him Phat Boy) told me I should check out this show called Burn Notice...yeah, I'm so hooked...its so my new favorite! When I saw it, I recognized the main character, but was too lazy at the time to go figure out where I'd seen him before...guess what movie he's on!?!?!?!?!

Ha ha ha...he's the jerk guy on Hitch! I so didn't figure that out for the longest time...any way, I totally LOVE the show and think its awesome! You should check it out!

Desicion, Desicion

So, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Logan. And it was way fun and rather uneventful going up this weekend,...Any way, I had the best time up there when I lived there, and really didn't want to move back, but I see why I needed to. Well, post mission I have been praying about going back and got the "Not now" answer and I accepted it and moved on realizing I might never get to live in Logan again. It was hard at first, but I was okay with it. I just asked once and felt good about staying here...other than the whole lack of social life...any way. I was fine with it until Jen got engaged and I was just super lonely. It totally stunk (and still does) I love my friends, but they are all moving ahead and I feel like I'm getting left behind. So, around the time Jen got married I was thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and I decided to pray about Logan again and see if maybe now it was time to move back up there. For the first time since I'd moved back I felt like it was a good idea and started to make preparations do move up there this summer. I was so happy about it and couldn't wait to finally be moving forward with my life. And then I got a huge wrench thrown in my plans when I got laid off making it seemingly impossible. Now that I have my two jobs and kinda feel like I'm getting back on my feet Logan seems like it might be a possibility again, but I'm not quite sure. So, what do you guys think? Should I move to Logan, or Orem. Either way, I am moving north this coming fall and need to start getting things in order, so I'm wondering what you think. But, I'll be honest, the ultimate decision will be made when I go to the temple and talk to Heavenly Father about it...but your opinion is VERY valuable to me! THANKS!!!

Shows I think should GO AWAY, and some I think should stay!!

Okay, I was pretty happy to get tagged on this one. I love watching shows and getting sucked into the story lines..most of the time. I think that's probably why I don't get sucked into the cop shows as much because you don't have to keep watching them to get the story. Okay, but before I talk about the shows that should go away, please don't hate me....its not my fault!! Any way, I will start with the shows I think should go away:

Desperate Housewives

LAME show!Oh my gosh! I really don't like this show. I was sick one Sunday night and didn't have the strength (ie: I was too lazy because of the fever) to find the remote and change the channel...longest hour of my life!

Some may be surprised by the next one, as it was one time my all time favorite show, but alas
SMALLVILLE has fallen out of good graces with me since the show should have died like 3 seasons ago!

Granted, I haven't really watched it as much post mission, but the few episodes I have seen make it seem like they are trying WAY too hard pulling at straws here...sorry Smallville, I think you should just die already!

I think ABC got bored whilst in a meeting trying to think up "cool" new shows for people to watch and then this "brilliant" thought came to mind...Hey, lets get celebrities that have fallen out of the spotlight, teach them how to dance and make a hit show out of it! And thus we get...

Dancing With The Stars

I don't know why so many people love it so much. It totally baffles my mind! What is it that draws such appeal? I think I'd rather be forced to watch Desperate Housewives....

I could go on and on and on about the crap on TV, but I will end with one final note on what I think must go and then move on to my favorites!!! Okay, I think I don't like this show mostly because I think the contestants are stupid...for the most part.

Deal or No Deal

I mean you're just pushing your luck with the whole thing. Don't play for the million, just play for a high amount and then walk away! But, no...they have to try and get that million and then they lose everything and I think they are lame...just like the show...

Okay, I'm done bashing America's favorite shows, sorry...on to some that I think are AWESOME!!!! I'm not putting them in any particular order because it would be like choosing your favorite child...only not at all comparable...moving on...

LIFE

Holy cow, I love this show! I was so worried it was going to get canceled, but it didn't!!!!!HOORAY!!

One Tree Hill

I love this show, and not just because it was filmed in my mission. I loved the show before I left, and in fact I watched it from Season 1...I will never forget when I watched the pilot in my dorm room with my friends and got them all hooked on it too! Plus, One Tree Hill is also a U2 song, which is why I watched it in the first place...

Pushing Daisies

I love this show and I am so sad it got canceled! Plus, it has Kristen Chenoweth who is Glenda in the original Wicked cast, and she sings on occasion on the show and its hilarious because every time I hear her sing it reminds me of the song Popular on Wicked...ha ha ha, such a funny song!

Heroes

Other than this season, Heroes has been awesome! I love this show! One somewhat good thing about Pushing Daisies being canceled is that one of its writers was an original writer for Heroes, who is now going to go back to writing for Heroes and hopefully save its really crappy storyline of this season! But, that meanst that Pushing Daisies has to go pushing daisies :(....

And, I don't know how I feel about admiting to this one, but I have recently watched the entire first season of

Gossip Girl

And I'll be honest, it wasn't what I thought it would be and am a little interested to keep watching....

Okay, I think I have successfully wasted your time...sorry about that! But, I tag: Kar, Amy and Ashley! Enjoy, I'm excited to read!!!

And the craziness begins!

So, now that I have two jobs and school starts next week, I will now be incredibly busy! I know that Maceys isn't going to give me too many hours, which right now I am a little grateful for. I am excited to go to school again and its going to be fun! And incredibly stressful!! HOORAY!! Ha ha ha...yeah, its all good.

On a completely random note, I have been watching the show Pushing Daisies, which I have really enjoyed. I watched it with my brother who didn't really care for it, but I really liked it. Its kinda reminded me of the movie Big Fish in the way they tell the story and what not.
I mean, what's not cool about a guy that when he touches dead things they come to life? Way awesome show.

Its 2009....that is just crazy. Where did the time go? I feel like I just got home and am still adjusting to life again...okay, so that isn't entirely true, I feel pretty well adjusted back to life, which is a lot of fun. But yeah, so crazy that the holidays are over again and before we know it spring will be here again! HOORAY!!!
